Social Responsibility from Steel City

Indian Development Foundation organized a Children’s Day-cum IDF Awards Ceremony at Sri Vidya Mandir, Salem, the Steel City of India on 15th Nov. 2010.
Dr. K. Arunagiri, Deputy Director of Health Services (TB), Salem, was the Chief Guest and presented IDF awards to top ranking schools in Salem for health education and resource generation programmes for humanitarian causes. Dr. Arunagiri also presented prizes to students who excelled in quiz competitions, jointly organized by Indian Development Foundation and St. Mary's TB Unit Salem.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Arunagiri, lauded the good work carried out by Indian Development Foundation for involving community participation in public health programmes. He appreciated the Principals, HMs, teachers for providing an opportunity to students to do social work.

IDF Awards for excellence in social action was bestowed on Sankar Higher Secondary School, Sankari - Sri Vidya Mandir Mat. Hr Sec School, Kondalampatti, Salem - Vedha Vikas Mat. School, Panamarathupatti - Vedha Vikas Hr. Sec. School, Santhiyur - Jai Vikas Hr. Sec. School, Namakkal - Sri. Vidya Mandir Hr. Sec. School, Gurusamy Palayam - Avvai KSR Mat. Hr Sec School, Thiruchengode - Govt. Girls Hr Sec School, Alavaipatti - Mahadeva Vidyalaya Hr. Sec. School, Thiruchengode and AET Hr Sec School, Attur.

Dr. R. Rajamohan, Medical Officer, St. Mary's Lab Centre and TB Unit, Salem - Mr. P. Rajamanikam, Govt. Health Educator (Rtd.) and Mrs. S. Ramamani, Principal, Sri Vidya Mandir Senior Hr. Sec. School, Salem appreciated the role of IDF and other NGOs in the fight against Tuberculosis.

Dr. S. Franklin, Manager - SR, IDF spoke on the vision and mission of IDF.

Mr. M. Rangasami, Development Executive, IDF welcomed the gathering while Mr. R. Settu, Coordinator-TN, IDF compered the programme in a fitting manner and proposed vote of thanks.

Members of various NGOs, Govt. health staff, students and teachers participated in the function.
