SLP in Action.

Students from DSIMS (Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies) volunteering for Student Leadership Programme (SLP) at Malwani Schools.  Dr. C. Babu, Director of DSIMS visited the SLP locations and witnessed for himself the excellent job done by the volunteers.  Dr. Babu appreciated Team IDF and all the volunteers for the wonderful social initiative in training student leaders in India.

IDF organized a Spoken English orientation session @ Bangalore.

Ms. Sheela, Spoken English and Soft Skills Trainer, Indian Development Foundation gave an orientation on Spoken English to the 1st year students of Yellamma Dasappa Institute of Technology, Kanakapura Road, Bangalore on the 29th of August 2016.

Dr. Rajappa, HOD, General Sciences Department of the Institute organised the event. Professor Ramakrishna of the institute and Ms. Vani, Coordinator, IDF, made necessary arrangements.

Eighty three first year engineering students from the Institute participated in the event with enthusiasm. IDF will now run a full course at the IDF Centre of Excellence for the students who enrol for the course.

Mr. S. Sunder Rajan takes charge as the COO of IDF Centre of Excellence at Bangalore from 15th Aug. 2015. With over 30 years of work experience in Electronics Test & Measurement Industry, Mr. Sunder has made a paradigm shift from corporate to social development sector. He started his career as Customer support engineer, gradually rose to National Service Manager and Global Head of services and finally Country head of Orbis, Finland. Mr. Sunder's passion for social development projects and train graduates through a finishing school programme has found the best match in IDF's CofE.

IDF Centre of Excellence (CofE) will be a great boon for empowering the youth of this country through skill development. It is a kind of finishing school for the graduates/ engineering students to make them job-ready and enhance their employability.

Team IDF extends a hearty welcome to Mr. Sunder Rajan for spreading the message of goodness.

I am also happy to note that CofE at Bangalore will be a multi-faceted facility catering to different social projects which will be useful for all sections of the society. On the eve of National Science Day, Team IDF (Dr. ARK Pillai, Dr. AP Jayaraman and Dr. Narayan Iyer) had a great interaction with Dr. Y. S. Rajan, Hon. Distinguished Professor, ISRO/ Department of Space and Board of Governor, National Institute of Technology Manipur. The meeting was held on 27th February 2015 at Mumbai. Dr. Y.S Rajan will be inaugurating IDF Centre of Excellence at Bangalore on 16th March 2015.

The initial cost of construction is INR 1.5 crores, of which we have already raised 1crore from various supporters/ Samaritans including students who gave small coins. The civil work is almost completed.  We plan to launch the Centre by February 2015 and dedicate it to the nation.  We seek your kind support and financial assistance for this noble project.

The three-storey CofE at Bangalore will also be a multi-faceted facility catering to different social projects.  (Ground Floor – IDF Bal Gurukul to teach children in the neighbouring area, First Floor – Leprosy/ TB/ Health research wing, Second Floor – State-Of-The-Art Training Hall and Third Floor – Women Empowerment and Adult Education Cell.)  IDF CofE will be a great gift to the nation.

IDF CofE for Juniors..... Student Leadership Program

IDF Social Ambassadors - Sonakshi - Sachita - Khevana - Prashakha - who launched the IDF CofE for Juniors, a student leadership programme for the students of Vivek Vidyalaya, Goregaon, Mumbai, successfully completed the first batch on 22nd Feb. 2014. The student leadership programme for a batch of 50 students were conducted on 4 Saturdays of February 2014 for 4 hours each. 

The students felt extremely happy at the end of the session as the team energized them with leadership skills. More such programmes will be organized in the coming sessions. Volunteers with excellence in teaching skills are requested to come forward and enroll for IDF CofE programs which will benefit students in various schools in India.

We could see a large number of graduates/ engineers from rural India are unemployable despite their qualifications. Youth development should be taken as a cause and we thought it fit to take it through IDF CofE. Incidentally, the centre at Bangalore will have women empowerment and also an IDF Bal Gurukul. Once the project of IDF CofE gets successful, we will scale it up to different cities/ villages in India.
