Dr. A. R. K. Pillai, Founder President of Indian Development Foundation (formerly Indian Leprosy Foundation) received Bharat Sevak Samaj Award for his dedicated services in the fields of health, education and rural development.
Rajasthan Pradesh Bharat Sevak Samaj organised its 55th Foundation day function at Rajasthan Chamber of Commerce at Jaipur on 11th August 2007. Bharat Sevak Samaj is the first NGO in an independent India which was established under the leadership of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Mr. Gulzarilal Nanda about 55 years ago for the upliftment of the poor and the downtrodden.
Justice Mr. Shivkumar Sharma, Rajasthan High Court, Justice Mr. Prem Shankar Asopa, Rajasthan High Court and Justice Mr. Gopal Lal Gupta, Lokayukta, Rajasthan were the eminent personalities at the function who presented the Award and Citation. Dr. K. L. Jain, Chairman, Jaipur Stock Exchange, Mr. Ganpat Acharya, President of Rajasthan Pradesh BSS and Mr. Suresh Kaul, President, Sarthak Manav Kushthashram also spoke at the function.
Eminent Justices congratulated Dr. Pillai for his dint of hardwork and sacrifice in the field of leprosy elimination programme. They said Dr. Pillai's work in the field of leprosy is a living example of excellence.
Dr. Pillai thanked the people of Rajasthan for their kind and continued support extended for reaching the goal of leprosy elimination. Dr. Pillai also highlighted the work of Sarthak Manav Kushthashram and its close association with IDF. Dr. Pillai quoted, `awards and honours equally belong to my co-workers and schoolteams. I rededicate my service for the welfare of the poor and the needy'.
A large number of prominent citizens of Jaipur felicitated Dr. Pillai.
