IDF organized Organic Terrace Gardening
The Organic Terrace Gardening (OTG) workshop organised by Indian Development Foundation at the IDF Centre of Excellence was a grand success, with an overwhelming response from the residents of Balaji Layout and people from other parts of the city, said Dr. S. Franklin, CE, IDF. The OTG was organized on 2nd April 2016.
Dr. Vishwanath Kadur, popularly known as the father of Terrace Gardening in Bangalore, was invited as the Guest Speaker at the OTG workshop. He said that we need not use pesticides if we know how to prevent them. He emphasised that pest could be avoided using traditional organic methods of farming; and we can enjoy tasty vegetables and fruits uncontaminated by pesticides.
Ms. Poornima Kalalae gave an educative presentation on various aspects including "the uses of terrace gardening, converting household wastes into compost, what to grow when? How to create a perfect potting mix? How and when to sow and prune.
Many prominent persons from the locality - Mr. Srivatsan, the Layout Welfare Association Secretary, Mr. Nagaraj Rao, The President and Mr. Sanjeevaiah, the Director, Balaji Layout - graced the event and extended all possible support.
Mr. Ramakrishnan proposed a vote of thanks. Ms. Vidya compered at the function.
