Teresa Award 2015 to Mars Mission Man, Dr. K. Radhakrishnan

“Every mission in life, may it be social, science or space,
commitment and passion are of prime importance. And if the mission is supported
by an excellent team, success is sure to come at the right time. For India’s development, we should inculcate the
spirit of team-work, social values along with scientific temper in young minds.
Mars Mission was successful only because of the tireless effort of ISRO team, observed Dr.
K. Radhakrishnan, while receiving the Mother Teresa Award 2015 from
Dr. Mariamma Varghese at a function
organized by Indian Development Foundation at NIMHANS
Convention Centre, Bangalore on 15th October 2015.
‘It gives me immense pleasure to receive an honour in the name
of Mother Teresa, who set a sterling example for serving the
sick and needy. The efforts of Indian Development Foundation in enlisting
people’s participation and support for national health and development programs
is noteworthy’ he added.
Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, former Chairman, ISRO was conferred with
the prestigious Mother Teresa Memorial Award 2015 for his
relentless contributions to India’s space, science and technology development.
Dr. Mariamma Varghese, former Vice-Chancellor, SNDT Women’s University and
Senior Consultant NAAC paid glowing tributes to Dr. K. Radhakrishnan for his
historic contributions to the nation’s space, science and technology
development. Dr. Radhakrishnan’s great initiatives will strengthen India’s
development towards education and science, she observed.
Dr. A.R.K. Pillai, founder President of Indian Development Foundation said that
IDF has been working for the improvement of health, education of the deprived children
and empowerment of women, belonging to lower economic strata. “In the course of
our varied activities in the social field, it has also been our resolve to
locate gems of human beings who have outlived the dimensions of normal life and
served humanity all through their lives” he added. Dr. Pillai said IDF
has been bestowing Mother Teresa Memorial Award on
personalities who have been the change-makers of India. Earlier
recipients of the Mother Teresa Award are : Dr. M.S.Swaminathan
(2010), Shri N. R. Narayana Murthy (2011), Shri D. R. Mehta (Jaipur foot)
(2012), Dr. V. Shanta (2013) and Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak (2014).
Dr. Chandrashekhara Kambara, Poet, Playwright and Professor -
Dr. A.P. Jayaraman, Senior Nuclear Scientist (ex-BARC) spoke in appreciation of the exemplary contributions
of Dr. Radhakrishnan. IDF social ambassadors Ms.Shiloh Jessie Francisca
and Mr. Nishchith felicitated the distinguished scientist and touched
many hearts.

while Dr. S. Franklin,
Chief Executive of IDF proposed vote of thanks.
IDF Social Ambassadors - Ms. Bhargavi rendered the invocation
song, Ms. Mischelle presented an inspiration song `I have a dream’, Ms. Preethi and Master Preetham gave a dance performance while Mr. Nishchith gave
a scintillating carnatic musical tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan.
