Indian Development Foundation organized an
environment awareness rally at Marina Beach, Chennai to mark the World
Environment Day 2014. Chennai Post Master General Mr. Mervin Alexander was the
Chief Guest who flagged off the rally from the Light House. “People from all
walks of life should know about the environmental issues and come together to
keep our environment clean and safe' observed Mr. Alexander.
World Environment
Day theme for 2014 is “Raise your voice not the sea level" and many
countries are facing threat on increase in the sea level, observed Mr. Sreeram,
Manager of IDF. We have to protect our environment and gift it to the next
generation. Let's pledge to plant a tree on our birthday and add over a billion
tree every year, he added. The participating volunteers carried placards with
environment protection messages and also distributed 500 saplings to the
general public and morning walkers in the Marina Beach. The rally concluded at
the Labour Statue.
