IDF's Tilak Bal Gurukul at Chindran (Panvel Maharashtra) gets a facelift

Indian Development Foundation, a leading national NGO working for health, education and development, has an excellent track record of nearly three decades of humanitarian service. Networking with over 100 health projects, IDF has also established over 80 Bal Gurukuls (empowerment classes) for the underprivileged children across the nation.

This story is about IDF TILAK BAL GURUKUL run in collaboration with Sudhagad Secondary School, Chindran village, Panvel Taluka, Dist. Raigad, Maharashtra. IDF launched this Bal Gurukul in June 2009 and the students performed very well in their board exams. IDF's Bal Gurukul is a proven method to provide `right education'.

Earlier status in Chindran school

320 children -- 60% girls.
No potable water/ no sanitation facility/ no electricity.
About 100 children walk 7+7 kms. from home-school-home everyday. It is too burdensome for these small children, but do they have an alternative?

Actions taken by IDF to help Tilak Bal Gurukul -- Status achieved -- June 2012

Power supply was brought in from source 4 kms away through street poles
Fans and lights in class rooms were provided
Bore-well dug with good supply of water - Submersible pump fitted
Pipe lines were laid and tanks fitted - Water Filter arrangement done.

Further projects in hand which will be done through public support.
