BANGALORE.......P S Rajanna, Director, Primary Education, urged the student community to step up and help the leprosy patients.
"With about 1.1 crore students in the state, if all of them join hands for the cause, the picture of Karnataka would surely undergo a change," he said at the annual awards function of Indian Development Foundation (IDF) on Tuesday.
Suresh Kaul, president of Sarthak Manav Kushthashram, Jaipur, said a petition had been filed to amend the policy related to leprosy. He said the amendment sought more subsidy and allowances for medication and education for leprosyaffected. He said they were hoping that the amendment Bill would be tabled at the upcoming Rajya Sabha session. Dr A R K Pillai, founder president of IDF, spoke about the role of education in generating awareness about the disease.
