Day with Dominos - TB Awareness programme

Dr. Narayan B. Iyer and Dr. Suhasini Sharma from Indian Development Foundation created awareness on TB to the members of Dominos Pizza at four different stores in Mumbai on Saturday, 14th March . Dominos Pizza Stores at Vile Parle (West), Vile Parle (East), Mahakali Caves Road and Chakala organised the awareness programme.

Mr. Pravin Amin, District Manager and all the Store Managers (Mr.Ravindra Shelar, Mr. Anit Sharma, Mr. Shivanand Shetty and Mr. Naved) made fantastic arrangements for the awareness programmes. The Dominos team received vital information and showed keen interest in the topic.
TB awareness was a part of corporate awareness of Indian Development Foundation which is planned during World TB Day. The visiting team handed over TB Awareness Posters to every member with a request to spread the message in their locality.

Massive TB Awareness at Karnataka

Indian Development Foundation team has been organising massive TB awareness programmes across India as part of World TB Day. IDF Karnataka team, in addition to awareness campaigns, is also organising State Level Essay Writing competition.

Awareness at Angel Land

The students were thrilled to receive the posters of Vishwanathan Anand and Anil Kumble endorsing TB awareness message.

Dr. Narayan B. Iyer addressed the students of Angel Land High School, Andheri (W), Mumbai on scientific facts about TB. The students joined hands and raised slogan `Yes, we all can stop TB".

Principal Mr. P.M. Alexander appreciated the work of Indian Development Foundation and exhorted students to join hands in the national movement.

Holi Celebrations with the differently-abled persons.

United colours of love and happiness
Indian Development Foundation organised Holi celebrations with the trainees of M.N.B. Industrial Home for the Blind at Jogeshwari West, Mumbai on Monday the 9thMarch 2009.

A team from Indian Development Foundation visited the M.N.Banajee Industrial Home for the Blind, a training centre for adult blind and hostel for working blind located at Jogeshwari (West) in North Mumbai.

Advocate A.V.Gopalakrishnan greeting the trainees on the occasion said blindness is the most crippling handicap and those affected by it go through untold sufferings. However, people in shelter homes such as M.N.B. Industrial Home and many others carry out excellent work to earn their livelihood. It will be in the fitness of things if the government provides community homes for them and suitable employment. NGOs can certainly collaborate and participate in such developmental programmes, he expressed.

Conveying Holi greetings to the trainees of the Home, Dr. Narayan B. Iyer, National Co-ordinator of IDF expressed happiness in celebrating the auspicious festival with the visually challenged persons. When the world around is celebrating the festival with colours and sweets, it gives us immense pleasure in spreading the colour of love and happiness among the visually challenged people, expressed Dr. Iyer.

The trainees felt very happy as they received gifts and ladoos from the visiting team on the joyful occasion. Symbolic colours were presented to mark the event of Holi. We can only feel the colour of love and happiness and this message of togetherness should be spread everywhere, expressed Tanaji and Shantanu the trainees of the Home.

Mr. B. K. Gidde, Chief Executive Officer of the Home felt happy that IDF is organising such meaningful events and boosting the spirit of the visually challenged persons year after year. While expressing gratitude to the IDF team, Mr. Gidde explained the activities of the Blind Home and exhorted people to come forward and buy products specially made by their trainees.

Dr. Sharad Nayampally, IDF Ambassador remembered the famous quote of Helen Keller that the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, but they must be felt within the heart.
Mr. Sanjay Waghmare and Mr. Jayaraja Acharya from IDF co-ordinated in organising the colourful event.

IDF team also took the opportunity of the event and created awareness on tuberculosis (TB) to the trainees and explained the role of Foundation during this World TB Day.

Students from B-School to stop TB

The students from Saraswati College of Management, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai joined hands with IDF to fight against TB.

IDF team comprising Dr. Narayan B. Iyer, Dr. Sharad Nayampally and Mr. Hari Thampy were invited for special seminar on social responsibility programmes.

Dr. Narayan gave a detailed presentation on the vision and mission of IDF and explained on the corporate social responsibility programmes and the role of students in transforming society. Mr. Hari Thampy gave an insight into management aspects and provided curricular guidance while Dr. Sharad Nayampally introduced simple breathing techniques for the students benefit.

Dr. Narayan contragulated the students of Saraswati College of Management for choosing IDF and taking active part in the CSR activities. Mr. Pravin More, Head of the Department, highlighted on the role of students in CSR while Dr. Jagdish G. Kori, Principal of the college appreciated the work of IDF in
social development aspects.

Justice done to Stop TB

SVKM Law College, Mumbai invited Dr.Narayan B.Iyer, national co-ordinator of IDF for a guest lecture on `Judicial Reform and Judicial Accountability' on 5th March. Dr. Narayan addressed the students on judicial reform and accountability and later involved them in an interactive session.
Taking advantage of the situation, Dr.Narayan went ahead with creating awareness on TB to the law students.

The students later received TB Awareness posters for display and distribution.

Dr. Narayan B. Iyer thanked the Principal Prof. Dwivedi and faculty Prof. Kavita Sharma for making necessary arrangements for organising the seminar.

World TB Day

On World TB Day, March 24, Indian Development Foundation (IDF) has announced a State Level Essay Contest in collaboration with the Office of the Joint Director of Tuberculosis and Karnataka State T.B. Association. The topic for the essay is “Public Participation in T.B. Control.” The contest is open to students of Stds. VIII and IX from Government/Aided/Unaided schools all over Karnataka. Handwritten entries in English or Kannada may be forwarded through the concerned Principals/ HMs to Dr. S.
