IDF SLP Certification Day at Guru Gobind Singh High School, Vikhroli, Mumbai held on 28-03-2016. IDF SLP (Student Leadership Programme) Mentors - Mrs. Rakhi Thakur and Mrs. Salma Khatri - churned out student leaders during the 6 SLP sessions. On 27-03-2016, the Board of Indian Development Foundation unanimously appointed Mr. Shashank Shetty as the Hon. Director for IDF Bal Gurukuls and Ms. Salma Memon as the Hon. Director for IDF Student Leadership Programmes (SLP).
The most vibrant, caring and affable social ambassadors - Shashank Shetty and Salma Memon - have been associated with IDF for a long time, spreading goodness through various social projects.

IDF received honours for spearheading TB awareness

National Health Mission and Telangana Public Health and Family Welfare and State TB Office presented an award to Indian Development Foundation in recognition and appreciation for contribution towards TB control in state of Telangana through continuous awareness programs on the occasion of World TB Day 24th March 2016. 

Award was presented by Hon. Union Labour Minister Shri. B. Dattatreya and Hon. Deputy Mayor GHMC Mr. Mohd Baba Fasiuddin, and other dignitaries from health department. 

We dedicate this recognition and award to all our staff, supporters, social ambassadors and well-wishers who have always supported us, expressed Mr. Sanjay Ram, Project Co-ordinator, IDF.


World TB Day at Bangalore - Quiz Competition

Indian Development Foundation (IDF) presented trophy, cash prizes and certificates for the winners in the quiz contest during the World TB Day organised at Bangalore.  Dr. S. Franklin, Chief Executive, IDF congratulated all the winners of Quiz Competition.

Sri. Umesh G. Jadav,, MBBS, MS, MLA, Chincholi Constituency and Parliamentary Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Karnataka and  Dr. Vimala R.  Patil, Director, Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Karnataka presented the awards.

Earlier, Sri U.T. Kadhar, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Govt. Of Karnataka inaugurated the function,

Mr. Vijaya Raghavendra, Cine actor and Brand Ambassador for Stop TB Program, Govt of Karnataka and Ms. Sanjana, Cine actress, and recipient of Flimfare Award and Limca Award, Swami Japananda Swamiji, Swami Vivekananda Ashram, Pavagada, Tumkur District, Sri. M.  Lakshmi Narayana, IAS, Principal Secretary, Govt. of Karnataka and Dr. R.N. Patil, Joint Director (TB), Lady Willingdon State TB Centre, Bengaluru participated in the event.





World TB Day – TB Awareness Rally at Marina Beach

Indian Development Foundation in collaboration with GREMALTES Hospital organised a Tuberculosis Awareness Rally on Marina Beach on Thursday on World TB Day. Mr. Mervin Alexander, Post Master General, Chennai Post, flagged off the rally from the Light House.  Nearly 500 volunteers and students took part in the rally to spread awareness among the masses.

Mr. Mervin Alexander , said,  “March 24 is observed as World TB Day and the WHO, our health ministry and various NGOs are doing everything possible to improve  its detection and cure.

Mr. Pius Kalathil, Director, GREMALTES Hospital said “The theme for World TB Day 2016 is ‘Unite to End TB ’.  TB, the two-letter word can kill anyone and play havoc with the lives of people. Sometimes TB is drug-resistant, particularly among children and it has become imperative to find better methods and applications to stamp out the disease early.”     
S.  Sreeram, Manager, Indian Development Foundation,  said, “ India is the world’s TB epicentre as it accounts for around 23% of global cases and most deaths 220,000 in 2014, from the bacterial lung disease that spreads through coughs and sneezes”. According to WHO “India accounts for an estimated 2.2million of 8.6 million new TB cases that occur each year globally, and  harbours more than double the cases as any other country”.
“People should know that treatment for TB is free of charge in all government clinics and hospitals. It is important for every patient to ensure continuity of treatment for about six to eight months. Stoppage of drugs may cause relapse into drug-resistant form of TB  – MDR-TB.” 

Scouts and guides from Kendriya Vidyalaya 2, Madambakkam, Kendriya Vidyalaya – CLRI, Sri Shanthi Anand Vidyalaya,  and students from the CSI Rainy College of  Nursing, MMM College of Nursing, Billroth College of Nursing, Shenbagam College of Nursing, Ethiraj College, Madras School of Social Work also participated in the rally. Doctors, paramedical workers, volunteers took active part in this massive TB awareness rally, which concluded at the Labour Statue.

TB Awareness rally in Yellammabanda, Hyderabad on 24th March 2016 on occasion of World TB day 2016. 
The rally was flagged off by Mr. Venkatesh Goud, GHMC Corporator, Allwyn colony, Hyderabad. 
Awards were presented to 10 TB heroes ( patients) who have successfully completed the entire course of treatment and these Heroes have shared their experiences.

World TB Day 2016 - "Unite to End TB".
TB awareness rally in Jagadgirigutta, Kukatpally, Hyderabad on 22nd March 2016.
Mr. K. Jagan, Corporator Jagadgirigutta flagged off the rally and participated in rally.
Indian Development Foundation (IDF) in association with Mr. Jagan, Corporator, Jagadgirigutta, State TB office, Sivananda Rehab home, BD, YASH technologies, school children, teachers, supporters, all Unitedly took pledge to spread awareness on TB and END TB.

Let Holi be Holy........ Holi with a difference

Team Indian Development Foundation led by Salma Menon and Satendra Prasad visited Children's Public School @ Bhagat Singh Nagar, Goregaon (W), Mumbai and played holi with flower petals. Salma spoke on the importance of Holi and distributed sweets. The school also received books for their library on this festive occasion. The children in the school felt extremely happy as they celebrated Holi in an innovative method. Students expressed as there is water cut everywhere, it is better to play with flower petals and later use the flowers for making manure.
