Governor of Karnataka hails IDF work

His Excellency Shri Rameshwar Thakur, Governor of Karnataka appreciated the work of Indian Development Foundation in the areas of health, education and rural development.

Dr. S. Franklin, Area Manager, Indian Development Foundation accompanied by Mr. Saleem Ahmed, Govt. Chief Whip, Karnataka Legislative Council and Mr. Sunoj, Manager for New Public School, Bangalore called on HE the Governor of Karnataka on 3rd October 2008 at the Raj Bhavan, Bangalore

The NGO is celebrating silver jubilee sought good wishes from the Governor for the ongoing national programme.

HE Shri Rameshwar Thakur congratulated IDF team on its silver jubilee year and expressed happiness on the good work done in the field of leprosy eradication. In a message issued on the IDF Foundation Day the Governor said, "The Foundation's public spirited gestures endeared it to the people, especially those afflicted by leprosy about which continuing efforts need to be made to bring down the human sufferings. The leprosy eradication mission of Government needs to be complemented by the efforts of NGOs and private bodies. The Foundation has extended its area of health care to TB, HIV-AIDS, Cancer and Blindness too, which demonstrates its wider outlook and sympathies."

Dr. Franklin said Indian Development Foundation in Karnataka is working in collaboration with Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra and Karuna Trust, BR Hills - Hubli Hospital for the Handicapped, Hubli - St. Joseph's Leprosy Hospital, Mangalore - Sumanahalli Leprosy Project, Bangalore and Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh Dakshina Kannada, Mangalore. IDF has also established 4 educational empowerment programmes for the underprivileged children in Karnataka, he added.

The Governor wished good luck and hoped more people to come forward in nation building activities.
